FORMER AMBASSADOR, CONGRESSMAN, NGO LEADER RALLIES TO BIPARTISAN MATERNAL HEALTH CAMPAIGN

Ambassador Mark Green (Ret.) — Malaria No More Policy Center managing director and former Ambassador to Tanzania and Republican Congressman from Wisconsin— yesterday became the newest champion to officially join Mothers Day Every Day, the White Ribbon Alliance (WRA) and CARE's joint US advocacy campaign to accelerate progress to save the lives of hundreds of thousands of women and babies around the world.

As a malaria advocate and a former Ambassador, Mr. Green has seen firsthand the far-reaching benefits of increased care for women and babies before, during and after childbirth. These resources not only help women and babies survive childbirth, a leading killer for women and girls in developing countries; they strengthen health systems. Investing in women and babies creates healthier families, communities and nations.

WRA-CARE'S Mothers Day Every Day announced that Ambassador Green would join its Advisory Committee at a dinner last night hosted by WRA and ONE for global health advocacy leaders to celebrate International Women's Day. The leaders applauded Ambassador Green for the contributions he's made to advancing global health solutions as a US diplomat, Member of Congress, and now leader at a top health NGO, Malaria No More. With him on board our campaign, WRA-CARE's Mothers Day Every Day looks forward to further accelerating progress to save lives and get a strong return on US dollars by investing in mothers and babies at risk during pregnancy and childbirth.
